Appointments

Registering with the surgery

If you live within our practice area, you are able to register as a patient. Please telephone or visit reception for details. You will be asked to make an appointment with our Health Care Assistant at your earliest convenience to complete the registration process.

Booking Appointments

The surgery offer appointments for non urgent cases that can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance.

Call the surgery 029 2070 2301

Telephone Consultations

We offer daily telephone consultations that can be booked in advance, with the doctor for matters that can be dealt with over the phone.

For example, to discuss test results, in some cases medication reviews etc.

Book on the day

We will endeavour to give all patients who contact the surgery before 9 a.m a same day appointment. In the event that all appointments are filled before 9 a.m the receptionist will take the patients details. Depending on the urgency of the appointment the on call doctor will advise the reception staff to either offer an appointment or a telephone consultation. Appointments can be made for urgent or non urgent matters.

Requests for same day appointment received after 9 a.m will be taken for urgent matters only. The on call doctor will telephone the patient and manage the case either by telephone or appointment as necessary.

Routine Appointments

Routine appointments can be pre-booked with a doctor of your choice, the time scale for these appointments is approximately 4 weeks.

My Health On Line (MHOL)

The surgery now uses MHOL for patients to make appointments and submit repeat prescription requests from a home computer or tablet. If you would like to register for this service please ask at reception for a registration form, you will require photographic ID.

House calls

House calls can be arranged for patients who are rendered house bound because of a medical condition and travel to the surgery will be detrimental to their health. Problems with transport is not a valid reason to request a home visit. We ask that where possible the house call request is received before 10.30 a.m.

Practice Nurses and Phlebotomists

Appointments can be pre booked up to 4 weeks in advance.

Cancellations/DNA policy

Please let the surgery know as soon as soon as possible if you cannot keep your appointment. This will allow us to offer the appointment to another patient.
As appointments are in short supply if an appointment is made and you do not attend, a letter will be sent to you from the practice. Repeated missed appointments will force the practice to ask that you register with another practice. Missed appointments are a waste of the practice time and an inconvenience to other patients.
An appointment is for one person only. If more than one member of your family needs to be seen, please book an extra appointment. If you have several problems please book a double appointment to help us run to time.

Temporary Residents

Where appointments are available we are happy to provide immediate and necessary treatment to temporary residents in Penarth who do not live in the Cardiff and Vale area. Patients who are resident outside of the UK may be required to pay a fee for the consultation.

Test results

It is the patient’s responsibility to contact the surgery for test results. Most routine blood results will be available in 3 days. X-Ray results will take 10 days. Please contact the surgery for results Monday – Friday after 10.30 a.m.
